F^*k Your Standards

The Carmichael Show was a 30 episode social experiment that pushed network television to the limit. We laughed, cried and damn near died 😂 watching one of the most groundbreaking shows in network television history. The writing was honest, smart and edgy AF.

If Seinfeld and Chappelle had a baby that would best describe the comedy of Jerrod Carmichael. Still boggles my mind how a 30 year old from North Carolina said f^*k your standards and forever changed the rules. The controversy game was on lock with topics including: gender identity, the plan b pill, black lives matter, mass shootings, xenophobia, gay marriage, assisted suicide, the N word (with and without the hard R), Trump, and the legendary Bill Cosby episode (Fallen Heroes).

The Carmichael Show was rare in the sense that every cast member was an essential piece of the puzzle. David Alan Grier and Loretta Devine have a seamless way of weaving between comedy and drama that is unparalleled. Lil Rel Howery and Tiffany Haddish have clockwork comedic timing. And throughout the series Jerrod Carmichael and Amber Stevens West trade off the duty of playing the straight man. If all that wasn't genius enough, the series was taped in front of a live studio audience. In the words of Kevin Hart "Drop fire 🔥 one time" and give a round of applause 👏🏾 👏🏾👏🏾 to The Cast and Crew of The Carmichael show for a job well done!
